Demi Lovato has checked herself into rehab.
The 18-year-old star – who called off an opening with the Jonas Brothers this weekend due to health reasons – has admitted herself to a treatment facility to address “emotional and psychological issues”.
A statement from the teenager’s representative said: “Demi Lovato left her tour early this weekend in order to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time.
“Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help. She is doing just that and Demi and her family ask that the media please respect their privacy during this difficult time.
“She regrets not being able to finish her tour, but is looking forward to getting back to work in the near future.”
According to gossip website TMZ, the singer and actress – who split from ‘Camp of Rock’ co-star Joe Jonas earlier in the year – was recently involved in a physical altercation with a female member of her tour team, which was a “catalyst” for her decision to seek professional help.
It is believed the young star is not seeking treatment for drink or drug use.
