The British actress plays the female lead Princess Tamina in the famous family movie studio’s latest blockbuster, ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’, and admits she has only recently realised just how high-profile the role is.
She said: “It’s daunting, I’ll be honest with you. I never thought I was that kind of actress. I bought my sister ‘Sleeping Beauty’ the other day and I thought, ‘You know what? I’m the new Disney princess!’ That’s insane.”
Gemma – who stars opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in the film – is also struggling to comprehend the fact that she can now buy a doll of herself.
She added to The Times newspaper: “There’s going to be a Tamina doll, a Tamina outfit and I find that so surreal.”
The actress recently admitted she doesn’t think she is enough of a ‘sex goddess’ to please fans of the original ‘Prince of Persia’ computer game, leaving her scared to go to a comic convention to promote the film.
She said: “They want me to go to Comic-Con. It kind of worries me. I’ve had letters telling me I’m not right for the part because I don’t look like the girl in the video game!
“She really is this sex goddess. They’ve got massively high standards.”
