Rhys Ifans loves cooking and even has a “signature dish”.
The Welsh actor loves spending time in the kitchen cooking up delicious treats – including his favourite dish of cawl – but finds his busy working life often mean he has to eat out or in hotels.
He said: “I really, really like cooking, but, because of my work, I spend a lot of time in hotels and it gets frustrating. A hotel for two weeks is a holiday, but a hotel for three weeks is like a sort of strange hospital.
“I can’t believe these words are coming out of my f**king mouth, but my signature dish would be cawl – a Welsh broth.”
One of the reasons why the 43-year-old star loves the recipe – which is a type of stew traditionally made with lamb and root vegetables – is because it requires minimum effort.
He added: “Every culture has its version of it. It is something men can do. You just chuck it all in and go to the pub for a day and a half, come back and it tastes glorious.”
