Ricky Martin is gay and “Stronger Than Ever”

Singer Ricky Martin is out, proud, and “stronger than ever” before.

On March 29, 2010, the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer announced that he was homosexual on a blog post on his official website. Two versions of his emotional announcement were posted, one in Spanish and one in English. Though the declaration of his sexuality was not a surprise to many, due to the speculation that had swirled around Martin for many years, Ricky received an outpouring of support from fans.

Now, Martin has thanked his fans for their well wishes on his twitter page in a message that reads “Whats going on gang?I’m doing great!Stronger than ever!I’m here relaxing @ home enjoying ur messages!I feel the love!Thanx for all!peace.”

The 38-year-old Puerto Rican superstar is most famous in the United States and other English-speaking countries for his hits “Livin’ La Vida Loca,” “She Bangs,” and “Shake Your Bon Bon.” Ricky Martin is still largely famous in Latin America, where audiences first came to love him when he was a member of the teen singing group Menudo.

Martin says that he kept his sexuality a secret for years due to fear of public rejection. In recent months, however, he has been putting the story of his life to paper and says he realized that he must be honest in every aspect of his life in order to achieve inner peace.

Ricky Martin became the father of twin boys in August of 2008. The twins were born via a surrogate mother, further fueling speculation that Martin was homosexual. He has always refused to comment either way on his sexuality. All need for speculation came to an end when Ricky wrote “I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.”
