Taylor Lautner will only bare his body if the role requires it. Although the hunky 18-year-old actor is happy to show off his impressive six-pack in the ‘Twilight’ movies – in which he plays Jacob Black – he isn’t prepared to de-robe in every film he appears in.
Speaking about his role in ‘Valentine’s Day’, he said: “Originally I was supposed to take off my shirt in the movie.
The script said we were walking into school and [my character] Willy takes off his shirt. I said, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa. Time out. He’s gonna take off his shirt in the middle of school? No, no, no.’ The reason I took off my shirt for ‘New Moon’ is because it’s written in the book that way. And there’s reasons behind it.”
Although he is reluctant to show off his sculpted physique for any role, Taylor admits the prospect of playing werewolf Jacob in the ‘Twilight’ series inspired him in the gym.
Taylor – who had to go back for a second audition for the part – told the July issue of America’s GQ magazine: “I’m in the gym, and I’m doing reps, and I’m reading the books, and I’m studying the character. I’m just saying to myself, ‘I want this role. I love this role. I’m not gonna lose it. And I’m gonna know it better than anybody, and I’m gonna do that extra rep, because I’m gonna be Jacob Black.’ ”
